paměť ! O, That
Memory!

Při přemítání o historii šternberských mezinárodních výtvarných
sympozií mně mimoděk vytanulo na mysli jedno v Česku hojně používané úsloví: „I
kdybys mě zabil, tak si nemohu vzpomenout.“ A dal jsem mu zapravdu, neboť i mně
se při psaní těchto řádek v hlavě převaluje jen několik víceméně nesourodých
vzpomínek na předchozí ročníky. Nakonec s jistotou vím už jen to, že u zrodu
sympozií stáli na počátku 90. let malíř Petr Zlamal a jeho žena Blanka. Tato
architektka se již léta s obdivuhodnou energií zasazuje o revitalizaci
historického jádra Šternberka, 
čímž má také značný podíl na okysličení
poválečným vývojem notně přidušené paměti tohoto půvabného místa. Místa, kde se
před válkou v poklidu snoubily - podobně jako v nedaleké Olomouci
- různé kultury, jejichž stopy jsou
bohužel v důsledku válečných a poválečných tragických událostí dodnes z velké
části zasuté pod troskami paměti-nepaměti. O to víc si cením konstruktivního
nadšení zpočátku malé skupinky lidí, kteří si usmysleli, že se pokusí s nabytou
svobodou navázat zásadním způsobem na bohatou kulturní tradici zdejšího genia
loci. A budiž dodáno, že zásadním hned dvojnásob. Neboť vedle odvážného záměru
postupně vytvořit ze Šternberka přitažlivou křižovatku mezinárodního výtvarného
dění minimálně středoevropského zvuku současně vdechli život chátrajícímu
areálu bývalého augustiniánského kláštera. V jeho zdech je díky jeho dávným
zakladatelům a obyvatelům nakumulováno tolik energie, že je jí stále na
rozdávání. Ale nedejme se mýlit, že stačí přijít, obejmout barokní sloup, a
hned se budeme cítit jako ryba ve vodě. Za těmi uplynulými ročníky i tím
letošním se totiž skrývá spousta tvrdé práce nejen konkrétního realizačního
týmu, ale i řady dalších nadšenců. Protože však vlastní paměť je šálivá,
domnívám se, že místo vzletných slov jistě mnohý z čtenářů uvítá věcné
připomenutí předchozích ročníků. Zde je:
While reflecting on history of the Šternberk
International Art Symposium, a maxim came to me what is quite often used in the Czech Republic:
“I cannot remember it; even if you kill me, I cannot recall it.” And that applies here, even if when writing
these sentences a few more or less inconsistent memories of former years are
rolling around in my brain. But with certainty I do know that at the conception
of the symposium in the beginning of the 1990s, there were the painter Petr
Zlamal and his wife Blanka. The
architect Blanka Zlamalová has for years sponsored, with admirable energy, the
revitalisation of the historic centre of Šternberk; whereby she has also had a significant share in the oxidation
of the post-war development of the corrupted memory of this charming place. Of
a place where, prior to the war - as in nearby Olomouc - different cultures
were combined, whose trace are, due to the results of the tragic war time and
post-war events, today for the most part unfortunately buried beneath the ruins
of memory non-memory. And I further esteem the constructive enthusiasm of that
small group of people, who from the beginning set their hearts on attempting to
tie their acquired freedom to the rich cultural tradition of the genius loci in a fundamental way. And let it be added, that that
fundamental way was immediately two-pronged: to gradually create in Šternberk
an attractive crossroads for International art known minimally in Central
Europe, and to simultaneously breathe life into the dilapidating former Augustinian
monastery complex. In its walls, thanks to its age-old founders and residents,
has been accumulated so much energy that it still continues to resonate. But
let‘s not kid ourselves that it is enough to come here, hug a Baroque stone column and then feel
fit as a fiddle. Much hard work has gone into the past years of the Symposium
and this year too - not just by the realisation team, but by a number of
enthusiasts as well. And because my own memory is deceptive, instead of
highfaluting words, certainly many readers will appreciate a factual memory of
past years. Here they are:
